The 4th Annual Summer of Color 5k was held on May 31st, 2025. The event was a huge success, raising over $10,000 to support the Boys and Girls Club of Alpena. The color run had more than 100 participants and 25 local business sponsors.
This community event isn’t just about running. It is a fun way to give back. Before the race began there was a pie-throwing fundraiser. For a donation you could throw a pie at WSCU CEO, Nick Montie, Fireman Andy or Boys and Girls Club of Alpena Executive Director, Brad Somers. A generous donation of whip cream from local Biggby made it possible to raise even more money for the Club’s programs. Thanks to all the participants and the generosity of business sponsors, the funds will go directly toward providing meals, mentorship and enriching programs for youth in our area.
Stay tuned next spring for the details of the 5th Annual Summer of Color Run. The tradition will continue! The Wolverine State Credit Union staff is eager to keep the momentum and make an even bigger impact in 2026.
